Stop Tim Curry!
The Dishonorable Hypocrite

This troubling story is from a female victim who went to 'Criminal' District Attorney Tim Curry's Office just the other day. Please read it, and think about this happening to your daughter...

I had the "pleasure" of visiting Tim Curry's office this afternoon for an appointment with Marie West, FV Coordinator. Marie was out sick but had not contacted me to reschedule, so there I was. I asked to meet with Christie Dunn, an Assistant DA, who I had previously spoken with on the phone.

Ms. Dunn's conduct was outrageous. She was insolent, rude, overbearing and malicious in her words and demeanor towards me (and I noticed that she is VERY recently out of law school, no less). And I was there VOLUNTARILY.

I came to discuss a case where I am a potential victim/witness. I explained that the police report was overzealous and incorrect. She (Ms. Dunn) continuously interrupted me, contradicted me, and essentially threatened me as if I were a perpetrator. I was mortified to say the least. Her supervisor was no better, and a second prospecutor even smirked at me about the situation.

You are absolutely correct. As a tax-paying citizen of Tarrant County, I am appalled at the conduct of these folks. I am also a Republican, but party lines WILL cross here!

In a follow-up e-mail, this lady had the following to say...

Yes, you may post my email/letter. You may also want to know that the root of this has to do with---MONEY. There are federal grants given to local municipalities for enforcing strict prosecution of "violence against women and children." The federal government has a program that resulted for the "Violence Against Women's Act of 2000." The website I found is: www.ojp.usdoj.gov/vawo/arrest_grant_desc.htm. It is very specific about how the municipality must have pro-active arrest policies, support of non-profit agencies, et al ad nausem.

We are in a quagmire.

Regards,

(please withhold my name in any publized communications--how unfortunate is that?)

90% Conviction Rate a Lie!

11-21-2004 - By G. Kouriesuhks

MrTimCurry.com was contacted by two Fort Worth-area attorneys yesterday. The attorneys, from different law firms, wished to remain anonymous, but had several comments and suggestions.
Pointing to "Criminal" District Attorney Tim Curry's claim of 90%+ conviction rate, both called that a huge exaggeration. Said one lawyer, "Complete fabrication. I have no idea where came up with that number. They're saying all the defense attorneys practicing in Tarrant County are only winning, combined, less than 10% of the all the cases on the docket. I can tell you my record certainly doesn't reflect that, and if many of the other attorneys in Tarrant County had a losing record like that, they wouldn't be in business."
In a separate interview, the other counselor commented confirmed that statement. "The facts just don't support that claim. I suspect he (Curry) selected a single offense group and made a wide-ranging statement, applying it to every offense type they see. It's just false. It's a lie. I would estimate it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 60%-70%, and dramatically less if you start with persons who have been charged with a crime and never went to trial."
Why is Curry lying about his department's record? Why don't more people call him on it? Why isn't the truth reported?
"You need to understand", said one attorney, "we're in a difficult position. We're in that courthouse every day, working to do what's best for our clients. There's a certain amount of required 'schmoozing' with the DA's Office. There's a lot of the 'good 'ol boy syndrome'. You can get a lot more done if you maintain a good relationship with the prosecutors, get a lot more deals and information. If you're on the black list, it's hard to keep things moving."
Sound sinister? Less than moral? Could be. When one considers the fact that Curry's office boycotted a Judge (a Judge!), has refused to even investigate someone who contributed to Curry's election campaign (Jack Madera), and now this 'fuzzy math', it looks like Tim is the "Criminal" District Attorney for a reason.

A Story from the ‘Inside’
Occasionally, we receive e-mails from professionals in the legal business. This message, edited in great part to protect both the writer and the law firm, details more of Curry’s unfair and unethical practices. It is troubling that this person cannot be identified, for fear of reprisals from Curry’s office. The note does jump to different points frequently, but you should understand; this person is frustrated, angry, and feels helpless. This person has a lot on his/her mind, and is trying to finally let it out. MrTimCurry.com hopes this forum helps, and lets everyone see that change is not only needed, but is coming.

I'm a (age) year old grand(parent). Don't get me wrong I don't have (description) and (description) but anyone who knows me and my (victim of Curry) knows our kids and grandkids are our life. I'm a legal assistant and office manager for a law firm and one that is (description). I've never been in trouble. My (victim of Curry) has been, but before (victim of Curry) met me and our kids. I don't want to waste your time if you don't think this fits your platform. But I don't know anyone I have talked to that doesn't see this as wrong.

What I can tell you about is what happens when you do follow all the rules. Even through the appeal process (though not even hardly started, unlikely to be overturned even though we will probably have 6 to 7 big points of appeal) and still end up with a 30 year sentence on a "simple" DWI (the DA's term not ours). We were one of the many rocket docket cases the DA will talk about when he talks about ‘clearing his docket’, while he made deals with 3 time felons on murder charges and gave them 6 to 10 year deals. My (victim of Curry) case was (time) months old but (victim of Curry) hadn't been in jail except the two hour booking process. (Victim of Curry) had been at (victim’s) job almost (time) years and in our house almost (time) months. (Victim of Curry) had been at the birth of all of our grandchildren, made every family event, even if it meant having Christmas a week early because (victim of Curry) knew (victim of Curry) would have to work on Christmas day. (Victim of Curry) see, is a habitual criminal, according to the DA. (Victim of Curry) had a felony in (date) and I don't know if they call it (misc.). Oh, (victim of Curry) was just convicted on this DWI in (date). But when (victim of Curry) was charged in early (date), (victim of Curry) was charged with a misdemeanor then, I believe, because of who we hired, (attorney), my boss referred us and really all we knew was they (attorney) had a name among DWI attorneys. I'll attach the articles on (attorney). You know wants to hold the DA accountable. It was bumped to a Felony (which I still disagree with). They never made an offer on the felony DWI. (Victim of Curry) would have agreed to probation we believe because DWI is not an issue in our home. (Victim of Curry) was willing to do that. They slapped (victim of Curry) as a habitual criminal. That was (date), (time) months after the initial charge. (Attorney) won't do habituals; "They are too hard to win." () Unfortunately $10,000 later we realized (attorney) was right. The DA doesn't have to play by anybody's rules but their own. (Victim of Curry) made every docket call which meant taking off almost once a month, sometimes twice, and (victim of Curry) was on call so more times than most (victim of Curry) lost a job, which amounts to about $500. But we still kept paying bills and working more. Oh, (victim of Curry) almost missed a docket call when (victim’s) Bondsman called on a (day) afternoon in (month) I believe, to say our (month) docket had been passed and set for (date) (I think I have all the dates documented.) We couldn't get a hold of the attorney but, working for an attorney, it is not uncommon for the attorney not to know something the bondsman does. And they got it off the Tarrant County Docket call or the DA list, again I have the details but there are so many. (Victim of Curry) took a job on (day). First thing (day) I call the attorney who says no, we got nothing, (attorney) calls the court who says yes we are on. I call the bondsman who verifies the date on the (day) again. So I go get (victim of Curry) and we rush to the courthouse, but (victim of Curry) is late and in (victim’s) work clothes and the courts don't believe (victim of Curry). But when our attorney shows up they admonish (victim of Curry) about being on time and let us go, again another role call. And then they tell us our next docket call is for (date). The rocket docket, you know, is a way to get those guys (who have been) in jail for 18 months or longer prosecuted. (Victim of Curry) wasn't in jail. (Victim of Curry) was doing everything asked of (victim of Curry). At the (date) docket call we are told that (victim of Curry) might be reached (their position on docket), then a week later we are told that (victim of Curry) isn't on the docket. Probably not until after (date) because (victim of Curry) is not in jail. (Date) we get a call, we go on (date), just one small problem our attorney is out of (location) until (date). But oh well, the trial is full of other unbelievable events and that said, the thing is we followed all the rules and the DA and their witnesses broke many and weren't made to follow others. But murderers were given much lighter sentences because the DA would deal with them - they couldn't get out of jail. I know this may be hard to believe but this really is only the tip of the iceberg but it all leads back to Mr. Curry does not do his job, but he knows how to make the numbers look good and if the average citizen was aware of how things truly worked they would be outraged.

I'd like to say that the DWI arrest itself has so much to be questioned, and was, but that again is still more of a long story.

I am going to attach articles and some headlines I put together. I have more things if you’re interested. Plea bargains were meant for people who would best be served by them but Mr. Curry gives them to murderers and I would like you to know that I believe most if not all of those murderers could have been convicted habitually because they all had prior felonies and they were much more recent than my (victim of Curry). Your article on Mr. Curry's hunt (Curry-sponsored dove hunt) was really amazing to me because I don't know if Mr. Curry is telling the truth or not, but I would hope so, it was a sworn affidavit. He would not look at affidavit's from my (victim of Curry) friends, employers and family, and all they were going swear to is that (victim of Curry) was not a habitual criminal, lets save that prison space for murders. (Victim of Curry) friends are engineers, salesmen, CPA's, cops, and attorneys.

As you can tell this has consumed my life and it has only been (time). But our justice system doesn't work and that is because Mr. Curry is not doing his job.

I have to tell you I am a little more than scared to do this publicly because of my job. We've already lost our home when we lost (victim of Curry) income. It was twice what mine is. And don't get me wrong I live in a very nice (place) but with (quantity) grandkids, all small, that have always come to Grandpa and Grandma’s every (time) to spend the night and see us at least (quantity) times a week, we lost alot. Of course they see (victim of Curry) every chance they get and if any body had ever told us we would be doing this nobody would have believed it. And in my profession Mr. Curry does have clout.

I am only going to send you the headlines. Note the dates though. Rocket docket was (date), now nothing. I check the star telegram every day and () I have found some more articles on (). Mr. Curry's job is to make sure justice is served and let me tell you in Tarrant County it is not.
